The naandi and wedding ceremonies will be in the south indian traditional style, and we have provided some pointers in the event tab ! The reception is more westernized, so suits/dresses will work then. No color codes; just no absolute white or black, and nothing too revealing :) Dont stress, and reach out to Kerry and Samarth if you need any further clarification. We are happy to help ! Oh, we traditionally dont wear footwear during the ceremonies. Keep that in mind for outfit choices.
The mehendi, and the naandi ceremony are both indoors. The wedding ceremony will be partially outdoors. Weather in India around that time is nice, almost warm (high of high 70s, low of 60s).
You are invited to attend all events, our recommendation would be to ideally fly in a few days prior (to get over jetlag and take in the new environments), maybe around Jan 18th. And staying for all 4 main events (mehendi, naandi, reception, wedding day) and beyond.
We would recommend hotels (some luxury ones listed in "Accomodation" tab. That being said, you can find hidden gems on airbnbs, but its more hassle and more work for you.
Bangalore is a bustling city with very convenient ride-share through Uber/Ola (cabs and autorickshaws). The wedding venue is also accessible from the city center by city Metro (above-ground subway) which is a nice experience in itself, but does not run late at night. Would recommend carpooling with other folks, given the traffic and because it will be more fun that way :D We are also happy to help you figure out transportation !
Come early and hang out late ! In Indian weddings, folks are always milling about, and there's food/beverages always readily available. Basically, there is no strict timing for anyone except the bride and groom :D
Absolutely, just let Kerry and Samarth know (email info below).
Please let us know any serious allergies or restrictions and we will do our best to accommodate it fully ! Meals traditionally are a huge variety of dishes served on a banana leaf, and you can ask for more/ask for specific things. The Indian wedding will be all vegetarian (not vegan), and will have meals involving nuts, milk etc. The water will be bottled or treated, so you dont have to worry about potability. Also, there will be no alcohol served at the ceremonies.
There are soooo many things to do, and it will all depend on how long your India trip is, so we have tried to give broad recommendations on the "Things to Do" tab. Reach out if you need further pointers or recommendations.
Samarth's sister, Srishti is also getting married around the same time to Jay. Their wedding is scheduled for January 31st, 2024. We will be doing a joint reception/mixer on Jan 21st, to make it convenient for the attending guests :) You are invited to both !
India can be a sensory overload, but it is equally welcoming and warm. And no two parts of India are the same, so it is hard to quantify in this tiny FAQ. Bangalore/Bengaluru is a multicultural metropolis, and almost everyone speaks English, so that will make your experience there pretty smooth. Do travel with some extra time, to explore a few other places near or far : )
Yes, and yes ! hashtag undecided yet :) There will also be a professional photographer team on-site.
