When Rachel and Kerry first met over a glass of wine in San Francisco, Kerry was convinced he had just met the love of his life. Rachel, on the other hand, was thinking about potentially setting Kerry up with one of her friends. But as the days passed, Rachel found herself hoping Kerry would ask her out again. Within a week, they had shared tacos in the Marina District, belted out karaoke in North Beach, and enjoyed a takeout dinner, watching Sweet Home Alabama on Kerry’s couch. A month later, when Rachel was home in Arkansas, Kerry asked if he could take a detour during a trip to Oklahoma to visit her in her hometown. A six-hour road trip turned into a date night in Bentonville, which culminated with the couple’s first photo together, a selfie in front of the water tower. Rachel wasn’t due to return to San Francisco for another month, but Kerry couldn’t wait that long to see her again. He planned a trip to Arizona, where they stayed in Phoenix, drove up to hike in Sedona, and ended the weekend at Valley Bar, where Kerry asked Rachel to be his girlfriend. She didn’t say yes, but she didn’t say no, either. At New Year’s, Rachel and Kerry reunited in San Francisco, and they soon began to spend nearly every day together. Rachel told Kerry she was planning on moving back to Arkansas to focus on graduate school applications, and he immediately suggested he go, too. Again, she didn’t say yes. But this time, she definitely wasn’t going to say no. In June, 2022, Rachel and Kerry moved into their first apartment together in Bentonville, just five minutes up the road from Rachel’s parents. A little more than a year later, after trips to Europe, Mexico, and all over the United States, they packed up their furniture and set out in a U-Haul for Princeton, New Jersey. In March, 2024, while on spring break, Rachel and Kerry traveled to Valletta, Malta where Rachel’s best friend from college, Madilyn, lives. In scenic gardens overlooking the Grand Harbour, Kerry proposed to Rachel. This time, she didn’t hesitate. She immediately said yes! Rachel and Kerry spent the rest of that week exploring Malta and Istanbul, Turkey, already dreaming of many more adventures together. In May, 2025, Rachel will graduate from Princeton with a master’s in public affairs, and Kerry will finally retire from hosting parties for students, a run that began back in 2012 at Arizona State. They know that no matter where they go, their love will grow stronger. And they can’t wait to see you in Arkansas in September.
