During a dorm-wide assassin's game freshman year, Brody drew Kerry's name first. He went down to ask his RA (that was working at the front desk) if he knew who Kerry was. After a quick Facebook check, they realized she was standing next to the desk with her friends. Brody then ran upstairs to his 4th floor room to grab a clean sock (the weapon of choice). When he got back downstairs he told her friend, "watch this" and then proceeded to kill Kerry. It wasn't until after that he discovered it was her birthday.

After almost one year of dating, Kerry went and spent J-term in Rwanda. While she was gone Brody decided to go with his friends to a pottery painting store. It was there that Brody painted a mug for Kerry for their first anniversary. When Kerry came back, Brody surprised her with it. She loved that mug and used it everyday for months, until it was accidentally pushed off a table. After that, Brody promised he'd make another one for their anniversary, but he never did. It wasn't until Kerry went out of town again that he decided to make her another one. After Brody came back from a week-long work trip to Chicago, they decided to go out to dinner. When they got home, Brody gave Kerry his gift. A mug that said "Nearly 4 years" on the outside and "Will you marry me?" in the bottom.
