just another hut romance

Joel and Amanda met in the Appalachian Mountain Club's High Mountain Huts in the summer of 2017. From the moment he saw her emerging from the fog at the Lakes of the Clouds Hut, Joel was struck. He instantly fell for the unapproachable and elegant Amanda Keohane. SO he did what any man would do: he got a job in the huts. Amanda doesn't remember meeting him until a few months later. In the fall of that year, Joel was offered a position as "hut croo" in the nearby Mizpah Spring Hut -- only 5 miles away from Amanda on the shoulder of Mount Washington. The two played Bananagrams and sipped tea one chilly afternoon at Lakes. Joel attempted to flirt with her. It got weird. he mentioned veganism. It didn't work.......yet... One year later, he popped into Amanda's hut again to visit someone else, but she was listening to musicals in the kitchen and it was kismet! The two instantly hit it off, singing Moulin Rouge, Chicago and Les Miserables. The two couldn't stop glancing at each other and smiling. Something just clicked. From that day on they were head-over-heels for each other. They ran miles through the woods at night to surprise each other with flowers, beer, Chinese food and lots of snuggles. They bonded over games of cribbage and special moments across the hut system, sharing songs they love and the stories behind them.
