How We Met / First Date

November 13th, 2015

Keo and I both crossed paths because we both work on Dover Air Force Base in Dover, Delaware. When we first met, he was just promoted to Senior Airman, and worked on C-5 jet engines as a mechanic. I was working at the Armed Forces DNA Identification Laboratory (AFDIL), helping to identify fallen soldiers from past and current conflicts, as a Quality Control DNA Technician. We had talked for a couple of weeks on the phone before we decided to go on an actual date. Prior to meeting that evening, we had both actually considered cancelling last minute because we were both so nervous. Instead we both met up for sushi at a local sushi restaurant, called Yukon (Keo doesn't like sushi but went anyways). We had such a good time, we were there chatting until the restaurant closed and reluctantly said goodbye with a super awkward hug. Little did we know it was going to be our last first date ❤.

The Proposal

August 17th, 2019

In August 2019, Keo and I were able to take a trip to Wisconsin to meet my family. I was stressed the day we left for the airport, and I needed to finish packing and take a shower before we headed out. Keo was upset about something, so I asked what was wrong. I was standing in the bathroom in our apartment, and he comes up to me with a box. He said, "I was going to do this in Wisconsin, but I think TSA will search my bag and ruin it, so I'm just going to get this over with now." HECK NO! I told him my proposal story won't be that he proposed to me IN THE BATHROOM. I figured I had guessed/ruined his previous proposals, so I figured it would happen at some point when we returned to Delaware. When we arrived in Wisconsin, we had a great time catching up with my family. On Saturday, Keo was officially meeting my best friend Kailyn and we were going to spend the day together. First, we went to a local Indian festival for some Indian cuisine. Then we drove around a bit and stopped a few places to catch up with old friends. At some point, Keo mentioned that he needed to stop by the house. Kailyn was happy to oblige, and I thought Keo was being a little rude. So we stopped at the house on the way to the Lake Michigan lakefront. Once at the lake, Keo and Kailyn were looking for "the perfect view." I was oblivious, so I joined in to find Keo a perfect view of Lake Michigan and downtown Milwaukee. The first spot was beachy, but overgrown. Kailyn was super upset about this...and I just tried to convince them the view was fine! It wasn't, so we kept searching. The next spot was near a bunch of condos, but they had a nice walking trail along the water. We stopped to take some pictures. Eventually I asked if we had enough, and Keo wanted just one more. I turn to him and he's on his knees with the ring! I started laughing and asked if it was a joke. NOPE! We laughed and hugged and kissed and I even teared up! We were ENGAGED!
