In true millennial fashion, we are a dating app success story - shoutout to Hinge! After swiping right and exchanging a few messages on a Sunday night, we met up for drinks later that week by Kenzie's house in downtown Denver. Kenzie marched right up to the bar and ordered two old fashions. We sat and talked for hours and quickly realized how much we had in common - if we don't fall in love, we will probably become best friends at least. Well, both happened. Our next few dates consisted of a haunted house, a bluegrass concert, a Halloween house party at Oliver's, and a night in an off-grid cabin where Oliver taught Kenzie how to fly fish on the Poudre River. And yes, Griffin was there for it all, quickly proclaiming Oliver as his own boyfriend. We spent Christmas together, went on a hut trip, Oliver's mom came to visit, and we spent most of our weekends snowboarding or seeing music. During Kenzie's law school spring break, we went to an island off the coast of Puerto Rico - our first international trip together - and told each other we loved each other while swimming in the Caribbean sea. 9 months into the relationship, Kenzie graduated law school and moved to the mountains for work. We committed to a long distance relationship and visited each other as much as possible. And then, 6 months later, COVID! Oliver's corporate job went remote and Kenzie was living in a cabin on a ranch - a perfect place to be trapped - and asked Oliver to move in. We worked at a small dining room table 5 feet from each other for 3-4 months and rarely left the house - what a time to be alive! Quarantine was interesting and a true test to a new relationship. But, we made it through and bought a house together a year later. We were in it for the long run. After 7 years of adventuring side by side - including a dozen international trips, hundreds of nights spent in a tent, and thousands of miles traveling on dirt roads and trails - Oliver proposed at our favorite spot to watch the sunset. Griffin was there (and alive after a very scary surgery!) and Oliver's mom made an appearance in the clouds, giving us her blessing. It was a magical moment on Christmas Eve. Since then, we bought a dream cabin in the woods in SW Colorado. We escape to this mini paradise as much as possible, having fun weekends with friends, hosting family, and just living a quieter life. The cabin is so special to us because it reminds us of where we grew up - Kenzie in a small Iowa town and Oliver in a small Vermont town - both with nothing to do but play outside and make your own fun. We are both rural at heart and enjoy the simple parts of life above all else. We are so excited to say "I do" here. Our love is strong, and our friendship even stronger. We are so happy to celebrate this journey with you.
