Grab a parking spot by the visitor’s center, the big parking garage as you come into town. It’s a 2-minute walk from there to Kind Coffee, the start of Downtown – Elkhorn Ave. In downtown Estes Park, you’ll find a vibrant arts and culture scene. From live music and theater performances to local art galleries showcasing the works of local photographers, the town is alive with creative energy. The Estes Park Mall, Rocky Mountain Olive Oil, The Rock Nest, The Elk Horn Gift Shop, The Trout Shop, and The Longs Peak Shop are some popular shopping options in downtown Estes Park.
Lumpy Ridge to Gem Lake - 3.12 mi. Begin by parking at the Lumpy Ridge trailhead, which is a couple miles outside of Estes Park on McGregor Avenue. At the trailhead, there are numerous signs indicating hiking trails, climbing routes, and other information about the area. If you wish to explore the Rocky Mountain National Park, you have to reserve an entrance time beforehand. Kruger Rock Trail - 4.0 mi. Cutting through the forested hills surrounding Estes Valley, the Kruger Rock Trail is a well-marked loop to the top of Kruger Rock. The trail begins in Hermit Park Open Space, located just a few miles southeast of Estes Park. Emerald Lake Trail - 3.6 mi. This moderately difficult trail is located at Bear Lake, which provides beautiful, water-centric views. This trail is not pet friendly. Alberta Falls Trail - 1.6 mi. Located at Glacier George, this is a moderate-intensity hike but is on the shorter side. The waterfall views at Alberta Falls are highly sought after!
The historic Estes Tram has carried more than 3 million visitors to the top of 8,900-foot Prospect Mountain for stunning views of the Rocky Mountains and continental divide. Experience great food at the Hungry Chipmunk Cafe, explore the gift shop, picnic areas, and light hiking. Reservations are made in one-hour windows. The tram ride up is about 5 minutes and the average time at the summit about an hour. Open daily 9AM – 6PM (last tram down at 7PM).
