Meet our Friends & Family that will be walking down the aisle with us! Photos and brief bio coming soon!

Courtney Deyerle

Matron of Honor

Rachel and Courtney met volunteering at a youth group in Virginia over 10 years ago. Their love for Jesus, creativity, adventuring and long heart talks brought them together. Over the years they have lived in many different places but always stayed super connected. Whether it was sending a journal via mail to each other, or driving hours to meet halfway at an Applebee’s, texting each other their daily schedules, or talking for over 10 hours without a break these two are committed to lifelong friendship. Rachel was Courtney‘s maid of honor and now Courtney has the honor of being Rachel’s matron of honor.

Charles White

Best Man

Josh and I have been friends since the summer of 2018. We met through The Refuge men’s prayer group and have become great friends. It is a blessing and an honor to have him as a part of my family. It is tremendously exciting for me to be in his wedding. Rachel is a wonderful woman and I am certain they will do well together. The man who finds a wife finds a treasure, and he receives favor from the Lord. Pr 18:22. Josh has definitely found a treasure.

Katy Potts

Bridesmaid

Katy was first introduced to Rachel through a mutual friend and has been blessed by her friendship, wisdom, joy, and compassionate spirit ever since. They love to connect over deep conversations, their respective journeys towards counseling, sharing about how God has been moving and revealing Himself in their lives (especially when it comes to Rachel's romance with such a Godly man and the exciting details of planning the most beautiful wedding), and really good coffee. Katy was beyond honored to be asked to join Rachel's bridal party and is excited to testify and celebrate what Jesus is doing in the lives of Joshua and Rachel.

I met Josh in May of 2018 after he called The Refuge asking for a ride to church. I remember the first time I saw his smiling face. I had no idea the journey that we’d begun. I was in awe of how Josh was able to take life one day at a time despite the adversity. He’s persevered and seized every opportunity afforded to him. To this day I am still in admiration of his optimism, courage and bravery. More and more people came around him and God touched him in a way I have never witnessed before. Josh never ceases to amaze me. Were it not for his faith in the Lord Almighty, he very easily could have gone down a much different and darker path. He continues to shine the light of the Lord everywhere he goes. I have been able to witness God’s Power, Grace and Mercy through Josh’s life.

Emily Haugen

Bridesmaid

Rachel and I met ages ago at homeschool plus. I stepped into Great Lit to find a girl with a headband and quite a few bracelets. She was quirkey and confidant. She was quick to smile and warmth exuded from her. I remember walking out of that first class thinking, "I want to become friends with her." From there we got to experience: sleepovers, books, movies and bible studies together. Man, I loved those bible studies. Rachel walked along side me as I learned to hear God's voice. She was always encouraging growth in me. She inspires people to get to know Jesus better, just because she radiates him. The Bible says every good and perfect gift is from the Lord. Her friendship is a good and perfect gift to me.

Josh and I met at The Refuge's prayer group for men. Since then, we've developed a strong friendship, centered around God & His purpose for our lives. It has been a privilege to pray, develop a friendship, and grow in the Lord with him. This new chapter with Rachel by his side is something I am excited about and know the Lord will bless!

Josh & I are brothers, no we aren’t twins LOL. I've known him for my whole life. We have gone through a lot together; Sibling bickering, being angry & forgiving one another, loss, sadness, pain, our own personal ups and downs. We'd have the most fun and best of days. I've watched him change and grow into the man he is today. Growing up as a little kid, I always wanted to be just like my big brother. I am proud of the Godly man he has grown to be. I find myself looking at him now just as I did when I was little. I’m blessed to have been able to move from NY to be with my big brother again. The little time I’ve had to get to know Rachel, it’s not rocket science-She ignites a fire in Josh that I've never seen him have before. God only has great things planned for you two.
