Wedding Party

Meet our friends and family who are walking down the aisle with us!

Jennifer Kelly

Matron of Honor

Kenia’s best friend for the last 23 years. They met on a sunny August evening in 1998 when Jenni was riding her bike through Kenia's sprinkler. Despite the age difference, different grade schools, different cultures, and going to different colleges in different cities, these two were always close & their bond unbreakable. Maybes it’s because they felt more like family than friends. Jenni’s parents even signed a mock adoption certificate! Kenia knew she’d be a life long friend when Jenni would show up at her door at 3am just to say bye when she was leaving for Mexico in the summer. Or when Kenia could just walk into her house, grab something to eat, & hang out with Jens parents. Only one house apart then, that love and home was never too far; and even now a few cities apart--it still isn't.

Maria Corsi

Bridesmaid

Kenia’s friend since high school and best tennis doubles partner. They almost met when their brothers had told them to introduce themselves to each other freshman year but Kenia greeted the wrong "short girl from cheer." Fast forward 2 years and they both try out for the tennis team and end up as doubles partners. Although they didn't score much, their developed friendship was better than any Ace. Maria has even traveled with Kenia’s family to Europe and Kenia with Maria’s family to Miami. I’d say that their friendship has given them each a second family.

Quan Blunt

Bridesman

Kenia’s friend since senior year of college. Both worked in the residence halls together and developed a bond over their love of food, naps, and traveling, what else does one need? Their friendship endured while Quan was away in Nepal for the Peace Corp, and upon his return he lived in Lansing with Kenia for a short while. In 2018 they even traveled to Japan and Thailand together. You could say that their friendSHIP can endure any trip or distance across the seas.

Melissa Rodriguez

Bridesmaid

Kenia’s oldest friend from childhood. Their parents were friends even before they were born so these two had no say in the matter of meeting. Lucky for them it worked out as they were inseparable as kids. Fast forward 8-10 years to where they're both in high school. Guess which two old friends both sign up for tennis? These two. Rekindling this friendship was almost effortless. The strength of their bond went into college and truly noted when Melissa & Kenia were roommates for “their freshman year” at MSU. Always in sync, they were often mistaken for twins! No matter where life takes them, when reunited, its like no time has passed for these two peas in a pod.

Alana Wolf

Bridesmaid

Kenia’s friend since college. Alana and Kenia met in 2011 through a shared acquaintance. Little did that acquaintance know she would be changing their lives forever. Both were in the Hospitality program at MSU and were relieved to finally find someone in a nearby dorm that would be in similar classes. For the next four years they registered for as many classes together as they could. If not for one another, they both agree that they don’t think they would have made it through Hospitality Business program, let alone college. Despite having been long distance friends after graduating, they have made sure to stay in touch through the years. Through all the love, support, and therapy they provide one another in their phone calls, there’s no going back for these two, nor would they want to.

Rachel Sherwin

Bridesmaid

Kenia’s friend since college. Rachel and Kenia met in 2013 but didn’t really become friends until 2014. They both worked in the residence halls on the same team and quickly learned they were similar in many ways. That feeling of soul sisters has never left the other, and with both willing to be vulnerable and open they quickly connected through their mutual empathy for the other. In 2016 they were roommates and probably would have been for longer but jobs took them different places. Despite this, they always made an effort for the other, whether it was offering support, jokes, advice or even just a quick text letting the other know they’re thinking of them. There’s never a moment without laughs, love, or music between these two.

Nora Howlett

Bridesmaid

Kenia’s friend since freshman year of college. Nora and Kenia first bonded over their love of Harry Potter. As time went on and they learned more of the other, they realized they had more in common on an emotional level. They understood each other’s “flaws” and helped each other work through them, change their perceptions, and find confidence in their strengths. As they changed and grew, so did their friendship—only to get closer and stronger. Grateful for each others love and support, empathy and understanding, sarcasm and jokes, this is a friendship that is sure to say —“after all this time? Always.”
