You can snorkel right off the shore here and even paddle board over to Peanut Island if you want to explore further. Parking fills up on the weekends so get there early. There are tons of dive shops nearby to rent gear at. We recommend Pura Vida Divers. If you scuba dive, check out their daily charters to nearby open water reefs. We got PADI certified with them and continue to go on their charters because of the great staff.
You can walk to this nature reserve from our house (about a mile walk along the canal then cross the bridge into the reserve) so it's a frequent stop for our guests. Miles and miles of trails will take you through a protected wildlife and nature sanctuary where you're sure to see local wildlife. We regularly see turtles, egrets, deer, and even an alligator here and there. You'll feel like you're in another world when you walk into the park. Highly recommend!
