In Calgary we are very fortunate to have been gifted the largest provincial park within the limits of any city in Canada. Within the boundaries of the 1348+ hectares of land in Fish Creek Park there are several interesting geologic formations that identify the geologic history of the area as well as coniferous and deciduous forests, grasslands, oxbow wetlands, year-round springs, the Bow River and of course approximately 19 kilometers of Fish Creek snaking through the park. These habitats provide homes and food for a fantastic array of fish, fowl and wildlife. The varieties of wildflowers, native grasses, and berries is extensive. There is much to discover in this calm and serene setting for everyone of any age with any interest. And it’s free!
At once a performance hall, recording facility, broadcast studio, live music venue, and museum, Studio Bell is the first facility of its kind in North America. Rising in nine subtly curved and interlocking towers, and clad in glazed terra cotta, the 160,000 square foot building designed by Allied Works Architecture references acoustic vessels, while providing sweeping views of the Bow River and surrounding cityscape. The complex also incorporates the revitalized King Edward Hotel, one of Calgary’s oldest buildings and a legendary blues club.

Heritage Park grew out of the connection Calgarians have to the preservation of our shared history. The Park continues that vision, telling diverse stories of those who came before us. Since opening its doors, the Park has grown into one of Calgary’s premier tourist attractions. Our mission is to connect people with the history of Western Canada, preserving our culture and heritage for generations to come. Throughout the year, guests have the opportunity to interact with nearly 100 years of history. Heritage Park’s exhibits span the early 1860s fur trade to the petroleum and automobile-dominated 1950s. It is the Park’s mission to document the history of the early West and to educate and entertain guests of all ages.

WinSport, the non-profit organisation that owns and operates Canada Olympic Park, is found to the west of Calgary, just off the Trans-Canada Highway and north of the community of Cougar Ridge. The facility was born out of the 1988 Winter Olympic Games, when Canada Olympic Park was the primary venue for the ski jumping, bobsleigh and luge events, and has since evolved into a diverse campus for year-round recreation and sporting excellence. The original Olympic facilities have been maintained and various expansions have been completed over the years to accommodate both professional athletes and the general public. Activities on offer vary according to the seasons. During the winter, the park is a major hub for skiing and snowboarding, whilst in summer the venue offers a wide range of warm-weather sports, including mountain biking, ziplining, luging, bobsleighing and more.
