Lakes Area Farmers Market (Saturday 10a-1p)
Open every Saturday from 10 am to 1 pm in People's Park - lots of yummy fresh baked goods, treats, arts and crafts --- and fresh veggies.
Troll Hunting in Detroit Lakes!
Detroit Lakes is home to FIVE trolls, ONE golden rabbit, and THREE magic portals created by Danish artist Thomas Dambo. They are a blast to find and a great way to explore the community. We recommend starting with Alexa's Elixir in our City Park and check her book for clues and a map to find all the others!
Ortenstone Gardens and Sculpture Park
This new public outdoor space is the home of one of Thomas Dambo's trolls, Barefoot Frida, and Jim Dolan's metal horse sculpture "Togetherness." And this year, Project 412 added three large sculptures on loan from artist Olga Ziemska PLUS a traveling exhibit of artwork by Charley Harper. Besides the impressive art, the walking paths are a lovely way to "get your steps in" while soaking up some nature. (Kendra's dad's is working on three bronze sprite sculptures that will be there in the future. I'm sure he'd show you a picture if you asked. LOL)
Hub 41 Ice Cream (scooping 11a-10p daily)
This ice cream is great. Pure summer fun in a cone (or cup).
Bucks Mill Brewing
A great spot to meet and have excellent craft beer (or root beer or NA options). It's kid and dog friendly. Classic pinball games, other games, puzzles, etc. to use. Some food options, but can bring in whatever you want from home or elsewhere to munch with your award-winning beer. (And Kendra's dad's murals here make great photo backdrops!)
Clarity Wine Bar (Wed-Sun 2-9p)
Jon is a fan of this new wine bar in DL. (He prefers Red > White, Cabs > Pinot)
Shady Hollow Flea Market (? maybe in Sept Sat-Sun 7a-3p ?)
This is a DL weekend classic in the summer ... and sometimes they stay open for weekends in September. But sometimes not. We will try to update if we get more information on their plans for September weekends.
