Our Story: Kendall's Version

When my sister got married in 2016, I told my dad I would never get married. It wasn't for me because I loved living abroad and the freedom that entailed. I had not dated anyone for several years and I had firmly decided, I would never meet a man abroad. Fast forward three years to a small cafe in Yangon, Myanmar. I was sweating profusely wearing a full suit trying to be professional during a work dinner. Thirty minutes into the dinner, in walks a man with piercing blue eyes and equally blue Addidas slip ons. As the dinner progressed, this man caught my attention and we decided to meet for lunch the next day. The 30-minute lunch ended up being 3 hours. We covered every topic from nephews to global warming to our favorite vacation spots. After lunch, in the cab back to my hotel, I did what any woman in my situation would do: I typed "Aaron Mayo" into every social media site I could, desperately wondering if he was single. He was pretty easy to find, so I sent him a message (after about 100 rewrites) and we started texting. But, that ended after a few messages, so I needed another reason to see him. With my boss' blessing, I invited him to an all-inclusive counselor weekend at NYU Abu Dhabi. It was here that we confessed we both liked each other and the rest is history!

Our Story: Aaron's Version

I had to hear from a colleague about the NYU-Abu Dhabi counselor dinner because the high school I was working for wasn't up to Kendall's standards. After I got the invitation second-hand, I made my way to the restaurant that Kendall picked out and arrived punctually on time. The first thing I noticed about the dinner, besides the mediocre food, was the really cute college rep who was laughing at all of my jokes. "Am I really this funny?" I thought to myself. It turned out she was picking up what I was laying down and we really did have an instant connection. The next day she visited my school. I had told the PE teacher that, "this cute rep" was coming to school and that I would introduce him and her. We both agreed, she's probably too good for me. After her visit, we had a really nice lunch and I'm sure the people sitting around us must have thought that we had known each other for ages. Anyway, I was a complete gentleman, paid for lunch, and offered to call Kendall a cab back to her hotel. After she left I thought, "She was cute and I think I was appropriate at lunch, but I don't know if I'll ever see her again." As I was walking back to the school my phone buzzed and Kendall Quisenberry was already stalking me on social media. "I can't blame her," I thought to myself. She ended up inviting me to the much-coveted NYU-Abu Dhabi counselor fly-in event. It was during this event that a much older lady took a liking to me and started following me around. "Can you blame her?" I thought to myself again. Anyways, Kendall did not like this much older lady. But, she was no real threat to Kendall. I told Kendall that I really liked her and I made the first move and kissed her that night under the Abhu Dhabi stars. The rest, they say, is history.
