Dressy Attire - We found that certain dress codes mean different things to different people, so instead, think of it this way: choose something that makes you feel classy but comfortable outside. (Specifics below.) **Please note that a September evening in Corolla can range anywhere from 60-90 degrees. While it may be hot during the day, it does cool down at night. Please keep an eye on the weather and plan accordingly.** For the ladies, consider a semi-formal / cocktail dress or pants. While a long or midi-length dress is preferred, if you have an above-the-knee length dress that makes you feel happy, go for it! You will be on grass, so maybe rethink stilettos. For the gentlemen, consider a jacket, suit, or tux.
We're having a seaside garden wedding. Think: sophisticated fun. A sit-down, plated dinner on the lawn of a historic mansion with lawn games, followed by a raging dance party with some show-stopping moves from Ryan. And yes - after the party is the after party.
The ceremony and reception will take place outside at the Whalehead Club, a 1920's mansion that has since been converted to a museum with views of the Currituck Sound. The venue is located at 1100 Club Rd, Corolla, NC 27927. Please note that you cannot go inside the mansion during the ceremony or reception.
Corolla's weather can vary greatly in September, with typical highs of 90 degrees and lows of 60 degrees. There may be a bit of rain or it may be totally sunny. While it can be humid in North Carolina, the Outer Banks tends to have a nice breeze from the water. The reception will be tented, so no need to fear the rain.
Please see the travel section on our website.
Outdoors - The ceremony will take place on the North Lawn and the reception will take place on the South lawn adjacent to the Whalehead Club Museum. We will have a tent for the reception to prevent potential rain from ruining our day.
Our wedding is strictly RSVP only. We will only be able to accommodate those listed on your invitation. Thank you for understanding! Kids are invited to the ceremony and cocktail hour, but we ask that you find a sitter for the little ones during the reception. We can help you make childcare arrangements, so please don't hesitate to reach out.
In addition to the registry located on our wedding website, we are registered at Crate & Barrel: https://www.crateandbarrel.com/gift-registry/kendall-berents-and-ryan-westphal/r6726786.
We will be kicking off the week on Wednesday, September 13th with a Beachside Relay Race at 9:00AM and a Welcome Party at 8:00PM. We welcome our guests to arrive early and make a vacation out of our destination wedding. As far as our wedding day, the ceremony will begin promptly at 4:30PM on Thursday, September 14th. Please arrive no later than 4:15PM.
The ceremony will begin at 4:30PM and cocktail hour will run from 5-6PM. The reception will begin at 6PM and will go until 11PM - as we want to give everyone plenty of time to shine on the dance floor.
We will be offering a shuttle service for guests staying in certain locations. The town of Corolla is small and walkable and we recommend that all of our guests stay close to avoid drinking and driving.
