JFK vs. LaGuardia

LaGuardia is a smaller airport than JFK and has been recently renovated. It is, in general, simpler to deal with than JFK. JFK is much larger and is currently undergoing major road work. At both airports, if you rent a car, you take a shuttle to the car rental lot, and this gets you out of the airport. JFK does provide better access to Long Island public transit than LaGuardia. You can take the AirTrain to the Jamaica station for the Long Island Railroad and catch a train to Roslyn or Sea Cliff. The Air Train runs continuously, and so, it's easy to use. The LIRR schedule requires careful consideration, especially on weekends when trains run less frequently. There's an app for that - "TrainTime".
