Flight
Miami International Airport (MIA) is the closest and largest airport with many flight and rental car options. It is north of Islamorada and about 1 hour and 30-minutes away depending on the traffic pattern as the Overseas Highway (US-1) mostly consists of one single lane. Enjoy the ride as you can expect 360 degree crystal clear ocean views while you travel over bridges, connect to islands, and pass historic landmarks.
Travel Note
If you do not intend on driving or renting a car, Keys Shuttle provides daily transportation between Ft. Lauderdale Airport (FLL) - Miami International Airport (MIA) - Lower Keys - Key West. The Shuttles run from 5:30 A.M. to 6:00 P.M., with pickups all throughout the Florida Keys. Uber/Lyft is also available in the region and would cost ~$150-$200 from (MIA) depending on the time of arrival and departure.

The Bayside Villas are an extension of Islander Resort and located just across the way. Ideal for families or a group of friends, this townhome-style accommodation features a comfortable living area with sofa bed, two bedrooms and a one and a half bath, a gourmet kitchen, and private deck. Guests enjoy their own private bayside pool and rental boat slips, while also having full access to all the amenities at Islander Resort, that may be reached by the complimentary shuttle.

Travel Note
We kindly mention the 45th Annual Florida Keys 7 Mile Bridge Run is on Saturday, April 11, 2026 at 6:45 A.M. This consists of 1,500 runners and road closures from Marathon to Lower Keys/Key West from 6:00 A.M.- 9:00 A.M. Although the event will take place 35 miles south of Islamorada, please prepare for possible traffic pattern changes.
