Clark was re-entering the dating scene right as Kember had sworn off dating apps due to a string of bad luck using them in 2022. But, Kember had planned a solo-trip to Portugal and figured to edit her Tinder profile so she could meet people abroad to show her around or recommend places to visit. While editing her profile, she saw Clark's and thought that maybe online dating might not be so bad after all and swiped right on the swordsman's profile. Clark messaged first after receiving the match notification, and the two talked non-stop over the next two weeks while Kember went on her trip abroad. As a tropical storm rolled in towards Portugal, Kember had to decide to end her trip early and fly back home. Clark likes to say that she was just making an excuse to meet him. Nonetheless, they met in person for the first time as he picked her up from the airport after her flight home.
Two years later, after many HEMA tournaments, concerts, vacations, and a falsely advertised opera performance, the couple decided that it was about time for them to take the next step in their relationship. Clark planned an evening out with Kember to the House of Spirits, which was a spooky mystery cocktail soiree at a haunted mansion in the heart of Dallas. They dressed up for the occasion. At the event, there was a lady there that did tarot readings, but the rule was that she had to find you. So the woman found them, and brought them to the secret tarot room with candles to do a reading for them. After pulling Kember's cards, she asked if Clark could leave the room for a one-on-one reading. Once she said the magic line that she sees good things coming in Kember's future, Kember turned to see Clark down on one knee. He said, "Kember, just as fate brought us together, it is only fitting that fate decides our future. Will you marry me?" And, of course, Kember said, "Yes!"
