We met through a dating app called Hinge back in February of 2015. Our first date started at Ferrara Bakery, where Kema ordered iced tea and gelato (which Andy thought was memorable considering it was the dead of winter), followed by an Escape the Room with Andy and his 12 friends (which Kema thought was memorable considering she was locked in a room with complete strangers). We took the fact that we hit it off during the weirdest date ever as a sign.

Andy used to live right by the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens, and when he first took Kema, she blurted out that it was the perfect spot for a proposal. A few years later, on August 18, 2018, Andy took Kema back to the Gardens, where he set up the items they ordered on their first date: gelato, iced tea, and a cannoli. Andy said, "I wanted to recreate our first date because this is the first day of the rest of our lives," then got down on one knee.
