It's 2009 in Bowling Green, Ky on a river... A few Lambda Chis and Kappa Deltas decided it would be fun to go 'ca-brewing', you know canoeing and drinking. A few Natty Lights down the river and Tanner thought it would be funny to yell 'coming in hot' and completely capsize Kelsey's canoe. After all items were secured (bathing suit and all), Kelsey decided to jump in the middle of Tanner's canoe as he and his friend rowed her down the river for the rest of the day. This day kicked off what Tanner claims to be 10+ years of convincing Kelsey to give him a chance. Many years down the line the two kept in touch, whether that was living across the street from each other throughout college, hanging out in Nashville after graduation or Tanner moving to Atlanta 'for work'. Not long after, the pandemic would hit in 2019 (woah) and rekindle their friendship. They were both a little more mature at this point, had sewn their wild oats and were forced to settle down considering the lock down and all. After months of reconnecting, Kelsey finally allowed Tanner to take her on ONE date but only on the single day she had available because she was coming in to surprise her mom for her birthday. He took his shot and the rest is history. Nine months later, on the magical date of April 30th, 2021, he proposed at her favorite place in Nashville, Union Station, where it will all come full circle when they say their vows on April 30th, 2022. A few morals of this story: 1. Don't knock a girl off a canoe and expect forgiveness so quickly. 2. Timing is everything. 3. Always say 'yes' to that spur of the moment adventure. 4. Persistence and flowers are the keys to success. 5. When you know, you know!
