With a steady plunge down the mountains, the river creates continual excitement for rafters. The Deschutes River has also long been a popular destination, offering adventures suitable for a family outing and thrilling trips with exciting rapids. The "Twisted Tree" Sporting Clays shooting range in Central Oregon is the high desert experience you have been waiting for with 16 stations and over 40 target presentations all well placed within sage brush, juniper trees and mossy lava rock. Sporting Clays shooting range stations offer multiple machines to provide a fun, high desert shooting experience where you can observe multiple targets and shoot various combinations of clay birds and presentations.
A fun arcade and beer bar in downtown Bend - about a 40 minute drive from the Ranch. Kelsey and Patrick's Suggestion: We highly suggesting competing in pin ball over a couple drinks! A favorite pastime of ours during the colder months.
Four-screen theater with various films, including indie selections, plus a cafe with draft beer. Kelsey & Patrick's Suggestion: The movie house is next door to Three Creek Brewing so stop by before/after for a drink! The movie house also serves food, beer & wine along with some of the best popcorn.
This flat 3.6 mile trail loop winds along the forested shore of Suttle Lake. From BBR: take Hwy 20 west 5 miles to the entrance of the Suttle Lake Campgrounds. The trail may be accessed from several points, including Cinder Beach near Suttle Lake Resort. Kelsey & Patrick's Suggestion: Stop at Suttle Lodge after for a drink at the Boathouse!
Hike BBR’s namesake in this 3.6 mile, 1,556 foot climb. Views of Cascade peaks and BBR await at the summit. ROUTE: From BBR: drive east on Hwy 20 to Indian Ford Campground, near MP 95. Turn north onto paved Green Ridge Road 11. After 3.8 miles, turn left onto gravel Road 1110 for 5.1 miles to a parking area at the road’s end. Kelsey & Patrick's Suggestion: Grab to-go sandwiches from the General Store at Black Butte to eat at the summit and take in the view!

Need a caffeine fix and some grab-and-go food? Look no further! Located in town, Sister's Coffee is a longtime staple and our favorite place to grab breakfast! Kelsey & Patrick's Suggestion: Great breakfast burrito and specialty coffee -- all syrups are homemade! This is a must-stop if you're passing through town.
This is our favorite bakery in town. We can never visit without many stops here - come early for freshly baked pastries and the best pies! Kelsey & Patrick's Suggestion: Our favorite pie is the marionberry - you can call ahead to pre-order! We also never leave here without getting the scones. So good!
Grab your boots and saddle up for a horseback ride at the Black Butte Stables! Professional wranglers from Black Butte Stables have been leading trail rides at the Ranch for over 20 years. Join the guides and their gentle, trail-wise horses for a classic trail ride and explore the forested trails of Central Oregon. Guided rides are available for guests 7 years of age and older, year round. All experience levels are welcome. Black Butte Stables is located just inside the entrance to the Ranch, behind the General Store.

The Lakeside Bistro is the ideal spot to take in the morning majesty of the mountains and lake while sipping coffee and nibbling on a fresh house-made pastry. Stop by for lunch or dinner to grab a pizza, fresh salad or sandwich. And as the sun sets, raise a glass to a day well spent with a local brew from the outdoor bar. The Lakeside project recently won three awards for the Sustainable Forestry Initiative. The Lakeside Bistro is open for carry-out and inside dining. As the only general store on the ranch it offers a wide selection of favorite food, growler refills, wine, local products and curated gifts. They also have ice cream cones, deli sandwiches to go and dinner boxes to go during the holidays!

Below are a few suggestions to add to your list to enhance your Black Butte Ranch experience: Paulina Springs: Paulina Springs bubbles out of the ground in a tranquil, wooded area. Accessing it from the boardwalk is a treat. Kelsey grew up playing in this spring. Nature Trail: Walk along Phalarope Lake from the Lodge to Big Meadow. You may catch a glimpse of a Rainbow trout, an osprey or bald eagle flying overhead, or even an otter playing in the quiet waters. Big Meadow Bench: Off the nature trail, there’s a plank bench that is a great place to sit and soak in the views, day or night. Stroll Through the Aspen Grove: The Aspen grove near the entrance to the Ranch provides a gentle sound of the leaves rustling that is instantly calming. You may even catch a view of the horses galloping in the meadow.

Located in Bench, Bos Taurus is a industrial-designed modern steakhouse. At Bos Taurus you can pick from fresh and dry-aged steaks from the best ranches in the country. They are not only particular about their meat, they're particular about how you cut it, coming to the table with a box of knives so diners can choose a light one made with Samurai blades or heavy burlwood with blue steel. A must-try if you're looking for a nice night out!
From the same team behind Wild Rose, Sen is located along the river and offers Thai hot pot and other noodle soups and dishes. Sen offers onsite dining including a warm-weather outside patio overlooking Mirror Pond! Kelsey and Patrick's Suggestion: If you can, sit on the patio! Great noodles, cocktails, and a view - what else could you want on a sunny summer day? P.S. Book ahead if you want to try the Hot Pot!
Located in Bend, 900 Wall is an American new restaurant located inside a historic, two-story brick building in the center of downtown. There menu has a bit of everything so it's a crowd pleasing choice and always a treat! Kelsey and Patrick's Suggestion: Get the spicy passion fruit martini - its a favorite!
