On a foggy Saturday morning on Mackinac Island, we went for a hike to explore the places we could not get to on bike the day before. We started the hike by venturing to Arch Rock. There was not a sole in sight as we walked to the edge of the lookout, I stared out at the clouds that it seemed we were standing on top of. I started to say "it feels like we are literally on cloud 9" and as I turned to look at Matt he grabbed my hand and got down on one knee. I am not sure that I heard him actually ask me to marry him, as I was in shock, and he had to actually ask me if I was saying yes.
Once upon a time, when Matt and Kelsey first started dating, Matt said that he had always wanted to get married at the cottage. Because of extreme circumstances, Kelsey finally caved and Matt got his dream while Kelsey tried to figure out how she could learn to control the weather. So on a blustery day on Big Lake, we got married. There were, what seemed like, gale force winds and a few raindrops on a very cold Saturday in October but we made the best of it. I will forever have the image of all the groomsmen standing outside holding the poles of the tent down so it would not blow away. And I will never forget wondering why no one was walking down the aisle only to find out that the arch had blown over onto Brandon's, our officiant's nose. While it may have been cold and imperfect, we are now happily married with stories that no one else will have and a wedding that can be compared to no other.
