It will be springtime in Sestri, so you can expect the usual host of seasonal variations— Fahrenheit temperatures that range from low 60s to upper 70s during the day (occasionally into the low 80s), and days that could be sunny, overcast, light rain...or a mix of all three in one day! Please keep in mind that Sestri is on the slightly more humid side, so it will always feel a touch warmer than the thermometer reads. Typically, the weather in Sestri is not too extreme during this time, and one could expect mostly sunny days, with a few overcast/cloudy days mixed in and maybe an afternoon or two of light rain. Last year in Sestri during early May, temperatures were upper 70s and people were at the beach and swimming! So, be sure to bring a swimsuit. As always with travel, important to pack versatile layers and shoes that you can walk in and wear with a variety of outfits.
As noted on the "Travel & Accommodations" page, we have several great hotels and apartments in Sestri for guests to book through our wedding planner, Jessica Vitorelo, jessica.vitorelo.weddings@gmail.com (this service is no additional cost to any guests). All of the locations are walkable to everything in Sestri, including our wedding venue at Castelli, rehearsal dinner at Miramare and catered beach day at Sottomarino. Of course, while you are welcome to stay wherever you'd like, we do want to note that staying in the town of Sestri is a more convenient option, as you can walk to the center of town, cafes, restaurants, shops, the beach, and our wedding venue + group activities from most places in town.
Ensure your passport is current and valid through August 2025, as they won’t let you travel if your passport expires within 1-3 months of travel. Renew/make sure yours is current ASAP, as passports can take anywhere from a few weeks to a few months. Don’t forget Global Entry and TSA Pre Check could be nice to have for a trip like this!
Sestri Levante is a town on the Italian Riviera. Nestled between two Mediterranean bays, it’s a very walkable and charming city with restaurants, cafes, bars and shops all walkable from pretty much any hotel. While crowds pick up all over the Italian coast in the warmer spring and summer months, Sestri remains slightly less touristy than the Amalfi area to the south. If your health permits, you should be able to walk the town no problem, get to beaches and our wedding venue. There are always taxis, private drivers, and Vespas for rent if you’d like another mode of transportation.
