Probably our favorite activity on Nantucket-- enjoying a walk/hike/run on some of the beautiful conservation trails all over the island! Some favorites: Sanford Farms: The full loop is 6 miles and takes you to the beach (where we got engaged!). The stunning scenery can't be beat! There is a shorter 3 mile loop which cuts out the walk to the beach if you're shorter on time. Tuppancy Links: A shorter ~1 mile loop that also takes you to a beautiful overlook of the ocean. See their website for many more options, trail maps and more!
There are miles of bike paths all over the island and it's a great way to explore! Bike rentals are a great option! You can rent by the hour or by the day. A few recommended bike shops in town include Nantucket Bike Shop and Young's Bicycles. A favorite ride is from town to Madaket and explore the beach and old cottages on this end of the island and stop at Millie's -- a classic old school Nantucket beach restaurant-- for a drink or bite before riding back! See the link below for maps of the bike paths!
Play some tennis! We are working on securing a block of courts at the Jetties Public Courts-- very close to where the ceremony and reception will be held. These courts are a 10-15 walk from town and right near the beach! Check back for details soon!
Cisco Brewery is a favorite spot with live music, food trucks, beer/wine/cocktails and picnic tables. With good weather, it's an amazing place to spend you afternoon! ***Important note***: Because it is Memorial Day on the island and there will be a famous, annual regatta taking place (Figawi), this spot will be absolutely packed. Lines can get very very long and they also charge a cover at the door (typically $20).
Every Memorial Day weekend, Nantucket hosts a the Figawi Regatta that brings many sailors and boaters to the island for a rowdy weekend of sailing. You can spot the races off the north shore of the island during the day, and many of the sailors at night. There's not too much to participate in as a non-sailer, but just for you to be on the look out for the beautiful boats and the rowdy racers!!
So many incredible restaurants around the island to try! Some recommendations include: Lola41, Nautilus, Dune, Ventuno, Cru, and many more in town. Most restaurants take reservation over the phone and we recommend you do so as early as possible if you would like to eat in town given the busy weekend on island!
There are amazing shops, galleries and museums in town to explore. The Whaling Museum showcases the whaling history of the island. Spend an afternoon exploring and poking around town!
