Luke and Molly were headed out for a couple’s mountain bike ride after their friend Meredith decided to stay home. As they were getting ready to leave, Molly was going through the “keys, wallet, phone” list and jokingly threw “engagement ring” into the mix. Luke laughed it off, as usual (because it wasn’t the first time something along those lines had been said to him). At one point along the trail, Molly caught up to Luke to find him on the ground messing with his bike/looking for something in his bike bag. He mumbled something about his chain and Molly hung out for a moment before deciding to offer help. When Molly walked over to him and asked what happened, Luke said “nothing, I just needed a reason to get down on one knee”. He then proceeded to ask Molly to marry him. Through tears Molly said “yes” of course! Little did Molly know when she was making jokes that morning that it would be the same activity that brought them together in the first place that would officially link them together forever.
Molly and Luke met for the first time in February of 2021 when he came to visit Eagle Bluff for the first time. That day, she showed him the birds and took him on the ropes course along with another co-worker. They talked a bit more that night at a post work bonfire. The next day they were chatting and Molly sent him her landlords phone number since he was looking for a place to live. Despite not being quite ready to reenter the dating world, she told him to text her if he had any other questions or want to know anything else about the area. To which he never replied (and will never live down). Fast forward to April when Luke actually started working at Eagle Bluff. At this point Molly was taking classes at Hamline, an EMT course, and was about to start Anatomy and Physiology. So, this part kind of all blends together. The two bonded over biking and their dogs Gettah and Fox. Luke joined in on a few brewery hangouts and was a staple at Tuesday Trivia. Slowly through all of this they were falling for each other. It was actually on a first date that Molly started to realize that she’d rather be hanging out with Luke. When her date that night asked if she wanted to grab dinner after their hike, she gave her date a BS excuse to end the night early and she headed off to trivia instead. The night before Molly left for a week out in Bend, OR they hung out together alone for the first time. They made dinner together and Molly introduced Luke to Schitt’s Creek. The night ended with no first kiss or even a hug. However, the next night was “Class Party” (iykyk) at the Bluff and Molly made an appearance before having to run up to the cities to catch her plane. That night they had an awkward but sweet goodbye, where Luke gave Molly some Oregon guide books and a hug. Of course they texted through Molly’s entire journey and somewhere along the way decided to give this thing a real shot. They talked the entire week, spending hours on the phone together each night getting to know each other and the rest was history!
