We created this website to help you plan for our big day. Here you can find details on the schedule of events, travel and accommodations, things to do in the area, and our registry. We’ve also included a little bit about our story as well as the awesome people that will be at our sides when we say I do. As we get closer to the wedding, we will update the site to include additional details as well as the RSVP. Thank you so much for all your love and support. Words cannot convey how excited we are for this next chapter of our lives together and to start it off with all of our favorite people! Love, Erin & John
After finishing graduate school, Erin moved to Washington D.C. in July 2019. A month later, Erin went to Spider Kelly's, a bar in Arlington, to meet up with her sorority little sister (also named Erin - Erin M. in this story, for the sake of clarity) who was playing in a cornhole league that night. When Erin M. was done playing, she and Erin sat at a table where a waiter mistakenly brought them a plate of mozzarella sticks. Anticipating that the waiter would be back to pick up the food, Erin and Erin M. left them sitting at the edge of the table. Unable to resist his love for mozzarella sticks as he walked by the table, John made a comment about them. He never took Erin up on her offer for him to have them, but he did hang around long enough to suggest that they go to a Nats game. Being the true fan he is, John immediately had the Nats schedule pulled up on his phone. Quickly looking at the team logos, Erin asked to go when the Phillies were in town. Given that the game was over a month away, John suggested that they should go out before that. After unsuccessfully trying to match up their schedules for later in the week, John asked Erin if she had ever been to the monuments at night...she hadn't. And so they had their first date at the Lincoln Memorial that night. And yes, they still went to that Nats game too.
For Erin's birthday, John gifted her a photoshoot with their dog, Lincoln, at the place that inspired his name - The Lincoln Memorial. After a month of coordinating outfits and watching a forecast full of rain, the day arrived and the weather could not have been better. Fifteen minutes into taking photos, John got down on one knee in front of the Reflecting Pool and asked Erin to marry him. Though neither one can tell you exactly what she said, it was a definite yes. The photoshoot continued as an engagement session that included pictures in the same exact spot they sat on their first date.
