April 12, 2013 - A big-name DJ was playing a show here in Buffalo. A friend of mine asked me to go and said he'd pay for my ticket. I didn't know the DJ but who could say no to a free night out dancing? I knew I was going to have a great time, but I didn't know that I would meet my husband there. Halfway through the show I notice this tall good-looking guy dancing, just absolutely immersed in the music. Then I glance down- great shoes. Check! I made my way over and just started dancing with him. We were grooving together for probably 10 minutes before we even exchanged names. "I'm Kelly." "Xander." "Andrew?" "XANDER" over the loud music. The rest of the night was a blast, and at the end after giving each other our numbers we went our separate ways. We had just had such a whirlwind of a fun night, and I told my friend "Wonder if I'll ever see that guy again." Flash forward a week, I get a text asking if I want to meet him out. I was fully in pajamas in bed at 11pm on a Friday, but I made my roommate get ready with me and head out to meet him. From there the rest is truly history. It's crazy what has come from just saying "yes" to a night out with a friend. The last 10 years have been amazing. We've built a life together, adopted the best dog in the world, and have only scratched the surface on fun adventures. We can't wait to celebrate with everyone and finally make this official!!
