Platte River Canoe Trips
A Doran family favorite, this canoe trip is always an adventure and only 40 minutes from downtown. Whether you want to kayak, canoe, or simply float down the river with a beverage, the Platte River is the perfect spot to do it!
Old Mission Peninsula Wine Trail
Northern Michigan is famous for its wineries, and this is Kelly's favorite way to spend the day! Old Mission Peninsula boasts 11 unique wineries. Some of our top picks include Bowers Harbor Vineyards, 2 Lads, Mari Vineyards, and Brys Estate, which also features a secret lavender farm.
Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore
Just 40 minutes from Traverse City, Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore is a must-see destination. With breathtaking views, towering sand dunes, and pristine beaches, it’s the perfect spot for hiking, picnicking and maybe attempting the 450 foot drop dune climb!
Downtown Glen Arbor
Downtown Glen Arbor is a charming spot worth exploring. With unique boutiques, art galleries, and cozy cafes, it's the perfect place to spend a leisurely afternoon. We especially love visiting Cherry Republic to sample their famous cherry snacks and cherry wine.
Frankfort
Frankfort is our favorite Northern Michigan town and the place where we got engaged! Spend a day at the beach, then wander through the charming downtown. We highly recommend stopping by Stormcloud Brewery and Cool Spot for Ice Cream.
Ice Cream
Ice cream is an absolute must when you visit Northern Michigan. You can't go wrong with any ice cream shop, but Kilwin's is a family fave!
Mackinac Island
If you plan on extending your stay, we highly recommend a visit to Mackinac Island. Bike around the island, explore its historic sites, and be sure to grab some famous fudge while you're there! You can make it a day trip or enjoy an overnight stay at one of the island's charming historic hotels.
