Victor & Kelly met at Mozart's Coffee Roasters in Austin. Kelly was doing Arabic homework and Victor sat at the table in front of her. It all began when Victor looked up and asked her: "Is your WiFi working?" Kelly's WiFi was, in fact, working just fine. They chatted intermittently until Kelly decided she was done with her homework and it was time to leave. Without saying goodbye or exchanging numbers, she walked out. Victor remembers feeling disappointed and surprised she had left. After a ten-minute trek across the street and up a huge hill, she made it to her car - where she decided there was something special about that guy in the coffee shop. Kelly hiked back to Mozart's and, luckily, Victor was still there. Victor and Kelly ended up sitting down at a different table together and chatting for four hours. Four hours! Coffee ice cream for him, black coffee for her. The rest is history.
After our first non-date at Mozart's, and many others, Victor & Kelly became fast friends. Best of friends, in fact, for 3 years and 9 months. After 6 months of both living in Austin, Victor graduated with his Master's degree from the University of Texas. He moved back to New York to work at Columbia University. Kelly stayed in Austin to finish her last two years of undergrad at UT. Then Kelly visited Victor in New York in 2015. Then Kelly moved to Russia for 3 months. Then Victor visited Kelly in Austin in 2016. Then Kelly moved to Morocco for a year. Then Kelly moved to the Republic of Georgia for a year. And Victor traveled 18 hours to visit her... On that special visit, we immediately decided our friendship should become a loveship. It was official on March 14, 2018.
Victor planned a surprise date to celebrate the end of Kelly's semester at Columbia. No alarm bells for Kelly -- Victor does this every semester. Victor started by taking Kelly around Manhattan to check off items on their NYC Bucket List (St. Patrick's Cathedral, the Rockefeller Christmas tree, holiday windows). Next stop: a tour at Top of the Rock. One major issue: it was a cloudy, rainy day and there was no visibility. Top of the Rock staff told us to reschedule the tour for another day. Major bummer. Kelly thought Victor's plan was ruined. Victor coolly walked Kelly over to Grand Central Station and booked a ticket to Greenwich, Connecticut -- after all, his date plan was just 'ruined' so we might as well get out of the city. After lunch, we walked over to Bruce Park where Victor proposed to Kelly in the woods. She said yes -- and that's why you're on our website!
