The Wedding Website of Kelly Chung and Niklas Kuhnke
Our wedding will be in Rose, Montenegro. The closest nearby city is called Kotor (very famous for its old town) Rose is a small settlement/town on a penninsula (a piece of land that juts out into the sea) and has just a few restaurants and 2 hotels. It is very quiet place but great views. The town itself is pedestrian only, and there is a car parking at the edge of the town. Everything is 5 min walk away.

Hotel

Forte Rose [Recommended]

Rose, Opština Herceg Novi 85340, Montenegro

This is home base for our wedding weekend — and we couldn't have imagined a more beautiful place to celebrate with the people we love most. All three days of festivities will take place here, from the Friday boat trip and Saturday wedding ceremony to the Sunday beach BBQ. Forte Rose is a boutique venue, which means rooms are limited and we expect them to fill up quickly among our 80 guests. We'll be in touch later to check in on your accommodation plans — so sit tight, and we'll help make sure everyone finds their perfect spot for the weekend. We'll be here the entire weekend with both of our families, so staying at Forte Rose means you'll always be right where the action is — no transfers, no timing stress, just good company and the Adriatic sea on your doorstep. Room rates are ~€178/night for a double room.

Hotel

Agape Rose

Klinci, Herceg Novi Municipality 85340, Montenegro

The closest & only alternative to Forte Rose (venue of wedding), Agape Rose sits on top of a steep hill and is just a short walk away through the village of Rose -- a tiny, charming settlement where there are no cars and pace slows right down. Getting between the two properties does require navigating a flight of steep stairs, so if you're travelling with a stroller or young children, it may not be the most practical choice. There is a partial driving route that bypasses the stairs, though it still involves a 5-minute walk from the nearest parking area to Forte Rose, and parking at Agape Rose & at Rose is free. As Agape Rose sits on top of a hill, it lacks beach access. However, it makes up for in value. It's a 4-star hotel with a pool, stunning sea views, and rates that are noticeably easier on the wallet. A great pick if you want a comfortable, well-reviewed base while keeping costs down. We'll be in touch later to check in on your accommodation plans — so sit tight, and we'll help make sure everyone finds their perfect spot for the weekend. Room rates are ~€100-€110/night for a double room.

Flight

Tivat Airport (TIV) — Montenegro · ~45 min [Recommended]

The advantage of Tivat is that it's entirely within Montenegro — no border crossing, no surprises. It's about 23km (45 min) away and a straightforward drive. Flight options are more limited than Dubrovnik & Podgorica, but if you can find a good connection, it makes for a very smooth arrival.

Flight

Podgorica Airport (TGD) — Montenegro · ~2.5 hours

Montenegro's main capital airport is also an option, and worth checking if you're flying from further afield and find a good connection. It's all within Montenegro so there's no border crossing, but at roughly 110km away (2h 15 min) it's a significantly longer drive than the other two. There's no public transport directly from the airport, so you'd need a rental car, taxi, or pre-booked private transfer for the onward journey.

Flight

Dubrovnik Airport (DBV) — Croatia · ~3.5 hours

The closest airport to Rose and likely your best bet for flight connections, especially from Western Europe. It's just across the Croatian border, about 81km away. Do keep in mind that you'll cross an international border on the way — in peak summer this can add time, but since we're celebrating in mid-September, the border should be much quieter. I would estimate 45min-60min wait at the border, plus a 2.5 hours drive.

Rental Car

Rental Car

Available at all airports from major companies including Hertz, Avis, Europcar, and Sixt. A great option if you'd like the freedom to explore the area during the weekend. Parking is available at all hotels and locations, will not be a problem in September. PLEASE do not rent a car bigger than a medium sized SUV. Roads in Montenegro can be narrow! Last time we were in Montenegro, we were able to get a rental car for as little as €10/day for a medium sized SUV.

Rental Car

Taxi/Private transfer (no Uber)

Taxi — Available at both airports, though fares and English proficiency can vary. Worth agreeing on a price before you get in. Private Transfer —The most comfortable option, with a driver waiting for you on arrival. We'd recommend booking in advance. We'll share some trusted local transfer companies closer to the date. There is no Uber in Montenegro. The town that we're staying in, Rose, is also away from major cities, so I would not expect there to be taxis readily available in this area if you're looking for spontaneous excursions.
