Muriel's Jackson Square
Lezlie and I think this is one of our favorite restaurants of all time. The dinner menu is fantastic (Roasted Onion and Gruyere tart......) OR, if nothing else, you HAVE to go to the bar, get a cocktail, and take it up to the seance room on the second floor. Say hi to the ghost for us!
Acme Oyster House
MUST GO. Oysters, of course, but they also have the New Orleans Medley, which comes with gumbo, jambalaya, red beans & rice, and sausage. It's the ultimate taste of all the classics. Go at an off time if possible, when the line out the door won't be as long!
Pat O'Brien's
Good bar to check out AT NIGHT, when the flaming fountain is at its most impressive. If you sit down and have a drink, they'll give you free bags of popcorn, so that's.... pretty freaking unusual....
The Camellia Grill
Pecan Waffle. One Eyed Buck Burger. Chocolate Cherry Freeze. Muffaletta. Take the streetcar for brunch and get a sightseeing trip through the Garden District. 24 hour, greasy spoon, hole-in-the-wall diner. Counter service only.
Palace Café
Owned by the Brennan family, the restauranteurs responsible for Bananas Foster. Go for desserts (the tableside Foster is a must, but all their desserts are usually on point) and strong coffee if you need an afternoon pick-me-up.
Central Grocery & Deli
Half grocery store, half deli, home of the original muffaletta. If you're an olive fan, this is the place to go. A half of one of these suckers will probably feed two people, don't over order.
Cafe Beignet
Cozy little coffee and beignet shop on Royal with a fantastic little patio to chill out on. Good spot if you're looking for a cappuccino, pastry, or sandwich.
Skeleton House
This big house in the Garden District, right along the streetcar line, goes ALL OUT for Halloween, putting out tons of unique skeleton "skullebrities" you have to see up close and personal to really appreciate. Trust us on this one.
Audubon Aquarium of the Americas
Really nice aquarium. Get your tickets discounted online, otherwise it can be pricey!
Gallery Burguieres
Cute little art gallery if you love animals as much as we do! We've bought a few of her pieces over the years.
Royal House
Great place for a couple to enjoy a meal on a kind of scary, lopsided balcony overlooking the magnolia trees around the courthouse.
