Flight

Gusti Ngarah Rai International Airport (DPS)

Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport, also known as Denpasar International Airport and Bali Airport, is the main international airport of Bali, Indonesia. Airline code DPS

House Or Rental

Canggu

We recommend Canggu to be close to the wedding venue, but it’s totally up to you whether you choose a villa or a hotel. For kid-friendly options with kids’ clubs—or even swim-up pool bars—hotels in Legian or Seminyak are a great choice. Private villas in Canggu/Seminyak offer a relaxed, home-away-from-home vibe. Either way, Bali traffic can be unpredictable, so please allow extra time to reach the wedding.

Travel Note

Visa Application

We recommend completing the eVISA online under the purpose of visit “General, Family, or Social” with the sub-purpose “Tourism.” This is the B1 Tourist Visa on Arrival, which costs Rp500,000 (approx. $47 AUD / $52 NZD) and allows a stay of up to 30 days. You can also obtain this on arrival at the airport

Travel Note

All Indonesia Declaration

Complete this one within 72hrs of travelling. It’s quick, gives you a barcode to scan at the arrivals gate, and will save you time at the airport.

Travel Note

Tourist Fee

The Bali tourist fee is mandatory for all international visitors entering the island. Paying in advance helps avoid delays and paperwork at the airport.

Travel Note

Travel Insurance

Before you jet off to Bali, make sure you’ve got solid travel insurance. Bali’s hospital system isn’t quite like back home in AUS/NZ—and without coverage, you might need a lot of cash to get treated. Better safe than sorry.

Travel Note

Indonesian Currency

Here’s my referral link—yeh yeh! We’ve been loving the Wise travel money card on our recent adventures. It offers way better exchange rates than traditional banks, making it super handy for everyday spending abroad. While cash is still useful for tips or places that only accept it, most restaurants and shops now happily take cards.

Travel Note

eSIM

eSIM is the way to go, simply to activate and generally cheaper than international roaming

Rental Car

GoJek or Grab

This is local Taxi/Uber-UberEats service. Download the GoJek & Grab app before leaving home as you'll need mobile service to verify your ID.

Travel Note

Scooters

You can hire one for around $5-10/day, or hop on the back of a Go-Jek or Grab for short trips at just $1–2. If you plan to ride yourself, you’ll legally need a motorcycle license from home. Kau has an international license from RAC, and while we’ve mostly cruised by without issues, we’ve had to hand over cash to police a couple of times before sorting the paperwork. Keep in mind: most travel insurance won’t cover you if you’re driving a scooter, but riding as a passenger (with a helmet!) on Go-Jek or Grab is usually covered. Do your homework, stay safe, and enjoy the "bike-bike" buzz.

Travel Note

Weather

August is Bali’s peak dry season, with sunny, warm, and pleasant weather, low humidity, and minimal rainfall. Don’t forget your sunscreen—or be ready to pay a premium for well-known brands!
