Best Man
Brother and best friend, we have shared way too many memories together to count. His passion for life is only matched by his competitive drive to beat his "little" brother. I've never seen anyone more able to lose himself in the moment. You'll see what I mean when you peek him on the dance floor tonight. Staten has been there for me through everything, and I wouldn't want anyone else standing next to me for the big day.
Maid of Honor
Ally has been my best friend since the day she was born. I loved her so much that I used to give her my allowance after she spent hers because I felt bad. Ally has the most incredible imagination, which inspired most of my favorite childhood memories - from sumo wrestling to playing "friends" or "school" to beating on our chest singing "my heart is beating like a big, brass band." She is the perfect combination of resilient, compassionate, funny, and weird.
Groomsman
With an unmatched sense of style and an endless appetite for a good time, Jeff has been my ride or die homie since I moved to Leavenworth in 2006. We made a bond playing basketball on Birch Street that has stood the test of time. The majority of the most fun times of my life have been with this man, and I can't wait to add to the list tonight.
Maid of Honor
She's better known as "The Babe," but despite being the baby of the family, I think we all look up to her. She may just be the smartest human I know, but yet we somehow tricked her into believing a mean babysitter named Billy Bob Joe would come over every time she behaved badly. Mallory is goofy, thoughtful, and driven. If anyone can fight climate change, it's her! And during the last few difficult years, she's shown up for our family in such a meaningful and intentional way. I'm not sure where we'd be without her.
Groomsman
I met Dom my freshman year of High School on the football field. A natural born leader, Dom was the cornerstone of our high school friend group. He's endlessly motivated in everything he does, and has a unique ability to rally a group for an unforgettable night.
Bridesmaid
Brigette and I met in the halls of Poudre High School at age 16. We've come a long way from passing notes during class and attending school dances in our favorite Hollister shirts. I don't think I would have believed you if you told me that at 28, we would be roommates in a small East Village apartment living our best NYC life together. She's been my person through thick and thin.
Groomsman
J baby aka Juicy J aka DJ NoKnees is the kindest, warmest person you'll ever be around. But don't let that fool you, he's an absolute savage on the sports field, whitewater rapids, and dance floor. We were housemates in college at Willamette University, got to explore NYC together for my first year in the new city, I officiated his wedding, and we have shared an incredible amount of other amazing memories together.
Bridesmaid
Sterling and I lived together during our Peace Corps service in Mozambique. We became best friends instantly, spending our first Christmas away from home sitting on a concrete floor in 110 degree weather, watching Elf, drinking wine, and eating homemade fried rice. You've got to be close when your friendship requires teaming up to kill rats, fetching water over a mile away, and hiding from kids banging on your door 24/7.
Groomsman
The smallest of my groomsmen, but with the loudest mouth, Ian is someone you can't help but love. The majority of our relationship is talking crap to each other about something or another. Sharing a basement together in college, Ian was my first domestic partner. Sometimes if I was running late from football practice, Ian would make me dinner and leave it on a plate under tinfoil with a note saying, "cause I know you can't cook for shit." I will always remember joyriding campus safety golf carts and throwing water balloons at students off the Willamette rooftops with him.
Bridesmaid
Miranda and I connected via UNC roommate finder and first met in person at Caribou Coffee in Chapel Hill. We had a lot in common -a love for travel, languages, coffee, pumpkin-flavored anything and a desire to make a positive difference in the world. We spent all 4 years of college not only living together, but living in the same room (365 days x 4 years of pillow talk). Miranda and I have had countless adventures - backpacking Patagonia, exploring Santiago, skiing in Colorado, and so much more.
Groomsman
Joe is another Berry Street Boy who I met playing football at Willamette. He's a PhD in biochemistry and is working on solving some of the great questions of life on earth. It's hard for me to imagine Joe doing such high level work when my strongest memories of him are crashing into our fridge after dizzybat and spraining his ankle jumping off our roof. But that's Joe, he can do it all. One of the smartest people I've been around, but also one of the most fun-loving and entertaining.
Bridesmaid
Julia is my kindred spirit. We met in Suite 712 in Hinton James our freshman year and became fast friends. Her family became my second family, teaching me how to make Puerto Rican turkeys on Thanksgiving. Julia brings joy and life to every situation, and we've been side-by-side through so many of life's ups and downs. She's my favorite person to coordinate songs/dances with (think Super Bass), watch anything having to do with Taylor Swift, or go out on the town in NYC.
Groomsman
Brian is my oldest friend in the wedding party. We met playing trombone together in 7th grade band. We have both since dropped the trombones and picked up guitars as we found the girls preferred guys with guitars. He is quite possibly the funniest person I've ever met. Please feel free to ask him to tell you a joke if you see him around. It's impossible to be in a bad mood around Brian, he can talk philosophy, science, music and any other high brow subject, but loves a dirty joke as much as everyone else.
Bridesmaid
I met Nicole at UNC a few weeks into freshman year and knew right away that I wanted to be her friend. Thankfully it worked out, and we created a home together on Ledge Lane. Anybody who knows Nicole could vouch for her kindness, easy going nature, and natural beauty (inside and out)! From football games to late nights going out (or studying in the library) to runs around campus, Nicole is who you want by your side for the rest of your life.
Groomsman
Another one of my oldest friends, I met Alex as him and Staten become best friends during our days in Seattle. He has been a second brother to me ever since. Alex has a rare sense of humor and energy that makes it impossible not to have a good time around him. He's become part of our New York family, and we can't wait to celebrate this special moment with him.
Bridesmaid
Mackenzie and I met at age 5 on the sidelines of our sisters' soccer game. From there, our childhood consisted of Boxelder School in the summers (think "Little House on the Prairie"), religious education classes, and a good amount of singing, dancing, and acting (none of which I was any good at). Since then, Mackenzie has been a true lifelong friend, a confidante, and a shoulder to cry on.
Bridesmaid
Kelsey and I were wearing the exact same outfit the day we met in Central Park (and we also happen to look kind of similar... the Hudson boys must have good taste). So you could say that we hit it off from the start. From the moment I met Kelsey, I felt like I'd known her forever. We are constantly communicating about all the plans Cuyler and Staten forget to fill us in on, and I'm always grateful to have her as my sidekick for whatever shenanigans the three power couples get us involved in.
