All about VAIL

High Altitude Vail is breathtaking in the summer. No, we mean it, it could literally take your breath away! The village is located 8,000 feet above sea level. Altitude sickness can hit anyone, regardless of physical condition or age. The key to surviving high altitude is staying hydrated. So while there will be plenty of imbibing over the weekend, make sure some of what you’re imbibing is water. Also, please note that alcohol is more potent at high altitudes so be sure to drink a lot of water at all times. If possible, consider arriving early to give yourself time to adjust. Altitude sickness usually passes after 24 hours. Finally, please know that exposure to the sun is 40% greater than it is at sea level. Sunscreen (at least SPF 30) is recommended for all exposed skin, particularly the face, lips, and neck. Be certain to protect your eyes with sunglasses. You will also find Vail to be an arid climate, so hand lotion and lip balm are essential.
