Things To Do
Barichara
Barichara is known as the “prettiest town in Colombia” and located about 3-4 hours driving from Bucaramanga. It is also the town that inspired the Disney film Encanto. Here you will enjoy cobblestone streets, colonial architecture, restaurants, shopping, glorious views, and hiking. Recommended if you have 2-3 extra days to spend in Colombia and would like to explore another destination.
Mesa de los Santos
Mesa de los Santos is a plataeu located about 45 minutes from Bucaramanga and has a range of activities such as coffee plantations, hikes, rock climbing and more. You can also access the ‘teleferico’ or cable car to the National Park of Chicamocha (Panachi). Mesa de los Santos is good for day trips or overnights. For example, Refugio la Roca is a hostel with glorious views and rock climbing.
Represa Hidrosogamoso
Represa Hidrosogamoso is a reservoir located about 1.5 hours from Bucaramanga. Here you will enjoy water sports and hiking. It is also located about 20-30 minutes from the colonial town of Zapatoca, which is similar to Barichara. If you’d like to stay the night, we recommend Hacienda LaFe.
Girón
The historic center of Girón is only about 20 minutes from the Club Campestre Hotel. This little town features cobblestone streets, white colonial architecture, and cute restaurants.
San Gil
For anyone with extra time, San Gil is the center for adventure sports in Santander. (Paragliding, white water rafting and more.)
