Do you have safety recommendations?
Answer
First time visitors to Colombia may be wondering, "is it safe?" The quick answer is yes! However, we do recommend you practice basic common sense when venturing off the hotel property. Petty theft can happen in the city (like anywhere) so it is best to leave your jewelry at the hotel. Best practice is to keep your purse securely in front of you and to not flaunt your iPhone or cash while in public. However, if you are with a group and/or with a Colombian guide, you will be very safe :)

What’s the exchange rate?

The exchange rate is about 5,000 pesos to $1 USD. Numbers in Colombia also have switched commas and periods. For example, $50.000 = $50 thousand pesos (about $11 USD). You will be able to use your credit card at most establishments. However it may be helpful to have some cash on hand if you anticipate needing taxis.

Transportation tips?

Taxis will be available at the airport and hotel, though it is unlikely you’ll find drivers who speak English (in Bucaramanga). Antonio and his sister Claudia (our wedding planner) have a network of drivers we can contact for you. Please let us know your estimated time of arrival at the airport and we can help coordinate a pickup. This will likely cost less than $20. At the hotel, the staff should be able to help call taxis and set pricing ahead of time. As a reference point, a taxi from Club Campestre to our welcome dinner should cost less than $5. Tipping is not expected but appreciated. And last but not least, for the wedding, we will have shuttles to/from Club Campestre.
