Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA)

The UK Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) is a digital permission required for travelers from certain countries, including the US, who wish to visit the UK for tourism, business, or transit purposes. This requirement will be enforced starting January 8, 2026. The ETA is similar to the US ESTA system and must be obtained before boarding a flight or ferry to the UK. Your ETA application will be £16 ($22) per person and typically only takes a few minutes to receive approval. Best practice would be to submit your application at least 3 days prior to travel.
