I went to visit my friend Chanelle in Kansas City for a fun girls' weekend a few years back. Well, Chanelle just so happens to be Max's sister. While I was there, she shared a picture of me and her dog to Max and he texted her and asked "Which friend of yours is that? She's cute!" Chanelle then (I think jokingly) said that Max and I should go on a date. I laughed about it, but I also told her I wouldn't say "no" if he asked. I knew he would be in town for Thanksgiving and thought maybe we would connect but Thanksgiving came and went and he never reached out. Finally on Christmas I got the text I was waiting for. He asked me on a date to meet up for a drink. He picked me up (I was more nervous than I care to admit) and we went to The Wicked Hop, a bar in Milwaukee that I love. I think we were both a bit worried it might be a little awkward. Well, it wasn't, and we were there for 4 hours which felt like they flew by. He says he will never forget how impressed he was by my beer choice - which was a high alcohol imperial stout called Teddy Bear Kisses. Little did he know, I ordered it solely because I liked the name, but little did I know, that beer would be the start to our forever.
