How We Met and Our Engagement Story

Kelley and Sal met during the fall of their junior year at Syracuse University as next door neighbors living off campus. Their two houses shared a driveway, so they saw each other in passing and often ended up at the same parties and gatherings since their roommates hung out together. Not long after officially meeting at a Halloween party one night, Sal asked Kelley out on a sushi date and they went on to be each other’s dates at fall formals before Kelley left to study abroad in London the next semester. The two continued their relationship while Kelley was abroad (thanks to FaceTime and a good WiFi connection) and then dated their senior year of college. After graduation, Kelley and Sal dated long distance for two years – driving back and forth on weekends from Philadelphia to Long Island and eventually D.C. to see each other. After Sal was accepted to medical school in Connecticut and Kelley received a new job offer in NYC, the two got an apartment together and eventually adopted their rescue puppy, Addie! One Saturday morning after Kelley left to run errands and get her nails done (excellent timing on Sal's part) Sal texted Kelley asking her to tell him when she'd be back so he could make brunch – Kelley didn’t think much of this because Sal is the household gourmet chef. When Kelley arrived home, Sal was in the kitchen looking like he was about to make breakfast and their puppy Addie ran up to greet Kelley - Addie was wearing a new, shiny red dog tag on her collar. When Kelley bent down to see the tag, she first saw the day's date engraved, “6-1-19”, and then flipped the tag over to reveal another engraving that read, “Will you marry Dad?” When Kelley turned around, she saw Sal on one knee with the ring. After Kelley managed to finish happy crying, she said yes!
