San Juan Islands

Take a magical ferry ride from Anacortes to the San Juan Islands. The main ferry stops are Friday Harbor, Orcas, Lopez, and Shaw Island. Simon grew up visiting Orcas Island with family, while Kelci found Friday Harbor to be her go-to getaway spot in adulthood. The islands are filled with adventure, beautiful water and wildlife. Pick and island or two and experience a gem of the Pacific Northwest!

Mount Rainier

Mount Rainier has incredible views and is not too far of a drive from the city. Wildflowers, scenic views of the Cascades, and more hiking trails than your feet can handle. "Paradise" is a popular destination within Mount Rainier National Park, although you may need to look into making a reservation ahead of time if you're thinking of visiting. If you would like a spectacular view of Mount Rainier but are not much of a hiker, you can also check out the gondola ride at Crystal Mountain.

North Cascades Scenic Highway

Spend a day driving around the North Cascades Scenic Highway. Along the way you'll pass by Lake Diablo, and several mountain ranges. Along this highway is one of Kelci's favorite hikes, Maple Pass Loop. If you go all the way through the highway, you'll pass through beautiful small towns with mountains in the distance.
