Should you stay in SLO or in AG?

🇺🇸 We live in San Luis Obispo (SLO), but the wedding venue is a ~15 minute drive away in Arroyo Grande (AG). In the days leading up to the wedding, the events will be in SLO: drinks at Madonna on Thursday, group hangout at CCB on Friday, and plenty of casual options for things to do with us (hiking, meals, tours, etc.) If you plan to arrive before Friday afternoon, it probably makes the most sense to stay in SLO. The wedding is in AG, so for the vast majority of you who will just come to the main events Fri and Sat, we definitely recommend staying there. Our Sunday beach hangout is almost exactly halfway between SLO and AG, so either place would be fine. 🇪🇸 Nosotros vivimos en San Luis Obispo (SLO), pero la boda la hacemos en una población a unos 15 min en coche, Arroyo Grande (AG). Los eventos de los días previos a l boda se llevarán a cabo en SLO: tomar algo en el hotel Madonna el jueves, pasar la tarde en Central Coast Brewing el viernes, además de otras cosas más improvisadas para hacer con nosotros (senderismo, comidas, tours de la ciudad, etc). Si planeáis llegar antes del viernes por la tarde, seguramente tiene sentido hospedaros en SLO en lugar de AG. Para los que venís solamente para los eventos del viernes y sábado, lo que tiene más sentido es que os hospedéis en AG. El lugar para día de playa el domingo, en Avila Beach, está a mitad de camino de SLO y AG, así que cualquiera está bien.

🇺🇸 This is our recommended hotel! It is about a very quick drive or 15 minute walk (0.6 miles) from the wedding venue, and right next to some of our favorite Arroyo Grande restaurants. To get our 20% discount, you have to call the hotel directly, and tell them you are part of the "Kelly and Albert Wedding" group block. 🇪🇸 Este es el hotel que recomendamos. Está muy cerca de la localización de la boda (1km), y al lado de algunos de nuestros restaurantes favoritos en Arroyo Grande. Para obtener nuestro descuento del 20% hay que llamar al hotel y decirles que soys parte del grupo "Kelly and Albert Wedding". Podéis avisar a Albert si necesitáis ayuda con eso.

Rental Car vs. Uber/Lyft

🇺🇸 Unfortunately, this area doesn't have much public transportation. Wherever you stay, you'll need a car to get to and from events and activities. Most people will probably prefer to rent a car. However, we will also have Uber/Lyft discount codes for the main events - we don't want anyone drinking and driving! 🇪🇸 Desafortunadamente esta zona no tiene mucho transporte público, así que necesitaréis un coche para moveros por aquí para los eventos y actividades. La mayoría de gente preferirá probablemente alquilar un coche, sin embargo tendremos cupones de Uber/Lyft disponibles para los eventos principales, no queremos a nadie bebiendo y conduciendo!

Thinking about an AirBnb?

🇺🇸 There are a number of AirBnB's in both SLO and Arroyo Grande, which might make sense for groups. A couple pieces of advice, though: 1) We'd avoid rentals that are not full houses. The apartments in the SLO area tend to be not great quality, and we've had some bad experiences in the past. If you don't need the space of a full house, we recommend one of our hotel blocks instead. 2) Many of the rentals in this area - especially those in Arroyo Grande - are out in the countryside, and might be a bit of a pain to drive to and from on windy roads at night after wedding events. We recommend checking the specific locations to see if the rental is near downtown/the venue. 🇪🇸 Hay varios AirBnB tanto en SLO como en AG, lo que puede ser más económico para grupos. Un par de consejos: 1) Evitar alquileres que no sean de casas enteras. Los pisos en esta zona suelen ser de menor calidad, y hemos tenido alguna experiencia negativa en el pasado. Para quien no necesite una casa entera recomendamos usar el hotel indicado arriba. 2) Muchos de los sitios de alquiler en esta zona, especialmente en Arroyo Grande, están en el campo, a las afueras, y quizás no sea lo ideal tener que conducir en ciertas carreteras secundarias de noche. Recomendamos revisar la localización antes de reservar para ver si está ceca del centro o de la localización de la boda.
