Our Love Story

February 27, 2017

It's a crazy journey that has led us to where we are now. Keith and I had been Facebook friends for quite a while without even knowing it. One night, as I was scrolling and enjoying some wine with a girlfriend, Keith's picture popped up. I instantly thought he was handsome, but had no clue who he was. With wine giving me courage, I sent him a message. We messaged back and forth until the early morning hours, and eventually we exchanged our phone numbers. The days following we texted, spoke on the phone, and had nightly facetime dates. We grew an instant connection by just having conversations. In March of 2017, we planned to have our first official date. I drove two and half hours to finally meet him and we enjoyed our first date taking the dogs to the dog park, eating burgers at Twins in Lafayette, and finishing the night with dinner at Tsumani downtown. After that weekend, we didn't spend a weekend apart for the next two years. Every weekend from March 10, 2017 until July 7, 2018 we both drove two and half hours to spend time together. In July of 2018, I moved from Luling to Lafayette so that we never had to be apart.

The Proposal

December 27, 2018

We always take a vacation around Christmas time, and this particular trip we took was to Elijay, GA. We rented a beautiful cabin in the Georgia mountains, and little did I know Keith made reservations for us to go horseback riding through the Appalachian mountains. Come to find out, Keith had contacted the people at the place we were going horseback riding at, and for months, they worked together to plan a surprise proposal. So, it's the day of the proposal. We arrive early morning to meet our horses, and we set off into the beautiful wooden Appalachian mountain trails. At the last stop of our ride, the tour guide asks if we'd like to get down and enjoy some of the views. We turn the corner, and there it was - a gazebo over looking a beautiful pond with champagne and cheese. I thought it was the normal set up for any tour, so I begin taking pictures. I turn around to ask Keith to take some pictures with me, and as I turned, he was waiting down on one knee. It was the most intimate moment being it was just us two in the middle of the quiet mountains. Once I said yes, out came the all the tour guides who were the ones who made it all happen. It was the best surprise of my life!
