Derron and Keisha met in 2006 at Palm Beach Gardens High School. It was their freshman year and they had their very first class of the day together. There were obvious sparks between them and they grew to like one another. But that “puppy love” was pretty short-lived and after that year, they went their separate ways. 16-years later and 1,100 miles apart, they got back in touch through Facebook (Derron reached out) in 2022. Though he was living in Philly and Keisha still lived in Florida, the spark they once had, many many moons ago, was instantly rekindled and they began to date. They navigated through the complexities of being in a long-distance relationship and getting to know the adult versions of one another. Thankfully, they managed to see each other pretty often, meeting in either Philly or Florida. The following year, in 2023, their relationship continued to blossom. So much so, that that summer, Derron was invited to join Keisha and her family on a trip to Jamaica for Keisha’s mom’s 60th birthday. Unbeknownst to her, this is where Derron would propose! A few months after their engagement, Keisha decided to join Derron in Philly. This big move proved to be a true test in their relationship. With all the ups and downs they faced, they learned to really lean on one another, which helped strengthen and build their relationship up to what it is today.
