Chris and Becky met after both moving to Chico for work; Chris as the Director of Bands at Chico State University and Becky as a Project Manager with Pacific Gas & Electric. As they are both avid crossfitters, one of the first things they did was find a gym - Upper Park Crossfit. One day, Chris noticed Becky weightlifitng in the corner during one of the classes and decided to strike up a conversation. You can all imagine the look Becky gave him by interrupting her session. From there, Chris continued to try and go to the same classes as Becky to continue growing that relationship. They really bonded in the fall watching their favorite football teams - San Francisco 49ers and Minnesota Vikings. She also introduced him to her favorite college football teams - Wisconsin! After a few months of getting to know each other: watching football, crossfit, and other Chico related events, they finally went on their first official date at the..... shooting range!

Chris proposed on Christmas morning, 2022. This was their first Christmas together in California, so they took advantage by going to the San Francisco 49er / Washington Commanders football game on Christmas Eve. Christmas morning was off to a slow start since they had gotten home so late, so in typical Chris and Becky fashion they kicked off their holiday with a shot of gin and orange juice - why not, right? Cheers! Rolling into the morning having eaten a slow breakfast, drinking some coffee, and opening most of the presents it was down the last gift. Becky opened it and was immediately confused. After what felt like (especially to Chris) multiple minutes and corresponding questions, Becky finally figured out it was the shooting range target from their first date. She asked if he had dated it on the back.. (as that was such a sweet gift to keep for all those years ago). He replied, "yes, it's dated on the back of the shooting target." Excited, Becky opened the frame and realized that he had written "Marry Me?" At that moment, Chris pulled out the ring from his Christmas pajama pants and presented Becky with the ring!
