How We Met

We met in 2013 through a FaceTime call between mutual friends. At the time, we were just young middle schoolers that didn't know we had just met our person. We continued to go to school together, and remained right under each other's noses until 2019 when we reconnected while Keila was home from attending school in Hawaii, and Taylor was attending school in Boulder. Our first impression of each other was that being together was genuinely so much fun. It didn't matter if we were watching episodes of Hell's Kitchen, or playing drinking games on the rooftop, we were having a blast of a summer. We ended up deciding to part ways, went back to school once the summer break ended, and remained in touch for years to come. After that, we would continue to keep in touch and meet up once a year to catch up, and hear about how the other person's life had shifted since we saw each other last. Some of our early memories together include laughing, reminiscing about years past, and creating playlists for each other. One year, we realized we were both finishing out our degrees on the Auraria campus in Denver. We met up for our overdue catch up session, and something just clicked that day. We went on a weekend trip together to Telluride, and that is when we both knew we would be marrying each other some day. What makes our relationship special is that we continued to care for each other through so many seasons of life; yet we found each other again at the perfect time when we were both ready. From 2022 to now, we’ve changed jobs, gotten degrees, traveled the world, lived in two apartments, inherited a dog, gotten Keila's cat to love Taylor more than Keila, and started building a life with each other. We’ve celebrated, grieved, and successfully gotten each other through life’s highs and lows. We want to spend the rest of our lives doing just that with each other. We knew very quickly we had found something really special in each other. In 2024, Taylor proposed in our hometown, overlooking Daniel's Park. It was real, meaningful, simple (just like us) and quite a surprise to Keila because she had no clue anything was going on. Of course, we said yes. We’re so excited to celebrate this next chapter with all of you!
