It is unclear if you can credit growing up in the same town, the way we were raised, or if it is a matter of chance, but we share so many of the same passions, values, and interests. We love all things Purdue, traveling, wine, food, Microsoft Excel, sports, traditions, and more. But above all else, music has been one of our favorite bonds. Initially it opened conversation, which led to sparks during summer concert season, followed by joint Spotify playlists, and countless trips to see each other while doing long-distance (often coordinated around a concert or show). We look forward to all of the future memories that we will make together through music, but here is our Greatest Hits Vol. 1.
Eric and Ali “met” while waiting in line at a bar in August 2015. The word met is used lightly here because this was the first time Eric and Ali interacted, but they later found a photo of Ali cheering while Eric played in their high school football game.
Those close to Eric and Ali know about this period of settling down and managing career aspirations with relationships. Everyone agrees that this abridged version is the preferred version.
It is still uncertain when Eric and Ali officially put a label on it, but this was the light at the end of the previously described tunnel. As someone that would celebrate Labor Day (or her 26.5 birthday), Ali is very much looking forward to finally having an anniversary to celebrate.
Though Eric would prefer to mention how he believes he discovered FGL with their release of the song Cruise in 2012, Dig Your Roots captures Eric and Ali’s commitment to each other and their values. Eric changed his flight to postpone the start of their long-distance relationship for one more day and the two spent the night singing along to this song at the Florida Georgia Line concert.
New Music Friday takes on a competitive edge for Eric and Ali, as they love challenging each other to find the best new song of the week. They heard the song Yours one Friday morning and it has remained “their song” ever since.
During their time living 700 miles apart, Eric and Ali looked forward to weekends when Eric could show Ali around his new home. Seeing Hamilton on Broadway almost made the two years of long distance worth it!
Eric and Ali have spent the last 4 New Year’s together while on vacation with Ali’s family, which is one of their favorite traditions. Ali has also dragged Eric to 2 Taylor Swift concerts in New York. And let’s be real, it would be impossible for Ali’s love of Taylor Swift to not rub off on Eric. She even convinced him to get married in a venue featured in a Taylor Swift music video!
This song (and the proposal music video) came out days before Eric popped the question. This song played while driving home to Indiana, and little did Ali know…
“And to this day up on that overpass, even underneath the new paint, you can still see, Ali will you marry me?” Eric proposed on a bridge in their hometown that was part of a project that Ali designed, and that was close enough to fulfill Ali’s proposal dreams created by this Jason Aldean song. Fishers, Indiana has left a permanent mark on Eric and Ali and vice versa.
Eric and Ali have shared 5 years of special memories together, but they have a million dreams for the world they’re going to make. They can’t wait to celebrate that commitment with their family and friends on September 11th, 2021.
