We “Swiped Right” with each other on Tinder on October 23, 2018. By November 3, we were on our first date together at Starbucks. We sat and talked for two hours and had such an easy time talking to each other. We went on our second date the following day to play glow golf. November 6, we were officially a couple. It seemed like everything was moving quickly, but it all felt natural and like we were exactly where we should be. In May, we brought home our “senior” guinea pigs, Aster and Daisy. In July, his sister got married and even though I had known for months that I’d marry him someday, that day solidifed it for me. By August, Chris was starting his first job in his field and would be working in Marshall, MI— pretty far across the state. We moved together to an apartment in Ypsilanti so we could spend more time together, since he’d be spending a long time driving to and from work. We felt like we needed to live together to be able to see each other enough. It sounds like it was rushed, but things fell into place perfectly and we were ready to live with each other full time. We already spent most of our time together anyway! Within a week of living in the apartment, we brought home our wonderful kittens, Ginger and Colby. In December, he proposed to me at the Detroit Zoo Holiday Lights, which one year earlier he told me was a lame place to propose. He proposed in front of the fountain, where I get a photo taken every time I am at the zoo. It was an amazing moment and I was happy to have friends there with us as well. A few months later, COVID hit and we were quarantining together in the tiniest apartment. Shortly after the pandemic began, we brought home our tiny kitten Olive. We bought our first home a few months later in June 2020. Ever since then we’ve loved spending our time at the house, making our own personal touches, and enjoying having friends over. We are so excited for the wedding, our honeymoon in Hawaii, and our long future together.
