La Rioja (Spanish Wine Region)

4 hours drive from Madrid. We recommend renting a car through any of the international providers. Car pick-up is available at Atocha train station (centrally located) or otherwise from the airport. STAY: Logrono, La Rioja This is a larger, central city to stay in and gives you flexibility to visit the different wineries and villages the region has to offer. VISIT: Haro, La Rioja A town split into 2 areas. At the foot of the hill, there are many different wineries which offer tours and tastings. All wineries are walking distance from one another so it's a great place to book several tastings! We love CVNE & Bodegas Muga. Venture up the hill to the old town of Haro to visit the beautiful cathedral, find restaurants and shopping. VISIT: LaGuardia, La Rioja Located on the border of the region of La Rioja and the Basque Country, this hilltop medieval town has been voted amongst Spain's most beautiful places and cannot be missed. Go to Restaruante El Bodegon for lunch!
