A beautiful park in the middle of Dublin to (hopefully) enjoy some sun. We also love nearby Merrion Square and all of the Georgian rowhouses that surround it. There's also Phoenix Park, a massive urban park, west of the city center. It features loads of green space for walks, herds of deer, the Áras an Uachtaráin or the residence of the Irish President, the residence of the US Ambassador, and the Dublin Zoo.
O'Donoghue's is one of the best places in Dublin for a pint of Guinness and great traditional music! Other Dublin pubs we recommend: -Stag's Head -Doheny and Nesbitt -Toners -John Kavanagh, "The Gravediggers" -Dawson Lounge (smallest pub in Dublin) -Kehoes -The Long Hall
We recommend the following restaurants in Dublin for a bite to eat: -The Winding Stair (40 Lower Ormond Quay, Dublin 1), Bookstore and cafe with old-fashioned home cooking -Leo Burdock's (2 Werburgh, Christchurch, Dublin 8), Best fish and chips in Dublin -The Woolen Mills (42 Lower Ormond Quay, Dublin 1), Local Irish cuisine -L. Mulligan Grocer (18 Stoneybatter, Arran Quay, Dublin 7) -O'Neill's Bar (2 Suffolk Street, Dublin 2), Traditional Irish food and pub After a night out, we recommend chicken fillet rolls from Centra or a curry cheese chip from Supermac's. Neither will lead you astray, especially when paired with a Rock Shandy.
Take a day trip from Dublin to see Wicklow Mountains National Park. Just a short drive from Dublin, the landscape is incredible in the park and you're able to explore Glendalough, Powerscourt, Lough Tay, and other sites. Several companies offer day trips from Dublin, including: -Paddywagon Tours -Wild Rover Tours -Wild Wicklow Tours
If any of the Grant Clan is interested, Inishturk is Keelin's top recommendation. It's a trek but well worth it! You'll have to drive to Roonagh Harbour, just outside of Louisburgh, Co. Mayo to get the ferry out to Inishturk. It is about a 3.5 hour drive from Dublin. The ferry is operated by O'Malley Ferries and departs from Roonagh at 10:45 am and takes about 50 minutes to get to the island. If you want to make a night of it, there is accommodation on the island. If you make the journey, be sure to hold on to your wallets so you don't find yourselves running to the US Embassy for an emergency passport like Keelin!
