Matthew and Keaton met in August 2018 when they were enrolled in the same graduate program at GWU. However, they didn’t speak to each other until their first date in February 2020. Matthew was too shy to ask Keaton out while they had classes together so he waited until he graduated to slide into Keaton’s Instagram DMs. They were inseparable ever since their first date at Barcelona Wine Bar on February 19th, 2020. One month later, on March 20th, Matthew asked Keaton to be his girlfriend and the rest is history...

0n May 1st, 2023, Matthew proposed to Keaton in Lisbon at a scenic overlook of the city during sunset. He planned for a photographer to capture the moment and take engagement photos around the city. Afterwards, the couple celebrated with a five course dinner of authentic Portuguese cuisine and a wine pairing. If you ask Matthew, he will swear that Keaton had no idea the proposal was coming but if you ask Keaton, she will say she grew suspicious when Matthew took 45 minutes to pick out the pair of pants he was going to wear for their "casual evening". It was a perfect evening capped off with FaceTime calls to their families to share the news.
