Question

Should I fly into Chiang Mai?

Answer

We recommend comparing prices before choosing a flight. Depending on when you book, it can be significantly cheaper to fly into Bangkok (BKK) first, and then on to Chiang Mai. (Taking a regional flight from Bangkok to Chiang Mai is typically under $100.) Please note there are 2 airports in Bangkok, so be mindful where you are booking to/from. It should also be noted that there are no direct flights from the US to Thailand. ALL flights will stop somewhere before arriving in Thailand.

Question

Where should I stay?

Answer

Most people will be staying at the Panviman Resort in Chiang Mai. Panviman offers several room tiers, and this is where all the wedding events will be happening. The resort did not allow us to reserve rooms, so please book as early as possible. There are several other hotels and resorts around Panviman, but none of which we have stayed at. If you would like to stay somewhere else, we encourage you to do your research.

Question

When should I arrive?

Answer

We encourage those making the trip to Thailand to stay as long as their schedule allows— there's so much to see and do in Chiang Mai. Many guests (including the bride & groom) will be arriving a week in advance. We will have a few activities scheduled for the days leading up to the wedding.

Question

How do I book a room at Panviman?

Answer

We suggest booking your room on their website. This is easier than trying to call the hotel for a reservation.

Question

How can I get from the airport to Panviman?

Answer

Airport transfer service is available from the hotel for a fee (max 6/van) and must be reserved at least 24 hours in advance. Please contact the resort to set this up.

Question

What should I wear to the ceremony?

Answer

Our main goal is for our guests to stay comfortable, experience Thai culture, and have fun. The Buddhist ceremony will require more modest attire, so women should cover their shoulders and avoid short dresses or skirts. It is considered unlucky to wear black at a Thai wedding, so women should avoid black dresses or tops, and no black ties or black shirts for men. Black shoes and/or black pants are perfectly fine. Once the ceremony is over, you are free to change into your party pants.

Question

What can I expect the day of the wedding?

Answer

Traditional Thai weddings are an all-day affair! The ceremonies will be mostly outside. We will start the Thai (Buddhist) ceremony at 1:30pm, with the Western ceremony following. There will be monks, a parade, offerings, so many blessings, and even more merriment. Dinner and dancing will start around 7pm.

Question

What will the weather be like?

Answer

Panviman is located high in the mountains outside of Chiang Mai. Expect very hot, humid weather on most days with chances of brief rain showers.
